Nikki Gronli is the owner of Flatlander Strategies, a consulting firm that helps organizations with strategic planning in communications, marketing, and policy advocacy. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience, she partners with clients to build compelling messaging, strengthen public engagement, and navigate complex policy landscapes.

In early 2022, Nikki was appointed by President Joe Biden as South Dakota’s State Director for USDA Rural Development. Under her leadership, the agency invested in over 4,000 projects in South Dakota, including expanding broadband access, improving infrastructure, and supporting housing, healthcare, and economic development in rural and Tribal communities.
