Meet the Panelists:

  • Dr. Valeriah Big Eagle

    Dr. Big Eagle (Ihanktonwan Dakota/Nakota) leads He Sapa Initiatives at NDN Collective, uplifting community through service. She’s a mother, wife, and basketball coach.

  • Samantha Chapman

    Chapman is the ACLU of South Dakota’s advocacy manager, a longtime lobbyist and activist focused on rights issues. She’s a mom of two and lives in Sioux Falls.

  • Nikki Gronli - Moderator

    Nikki Gronli, owner of Flatlander Strategies, helps organizations with strategy and advocacy. As former USDA Rural Development Director, she led 4,000+ investments supporting South Dakota’s rural communities.

  • Erin Healy

    Rep. Erin Healy

    Rep. Healy is Minority Leader in the SD House, focused on education, healthcare, and kids. She works in philanthropy and is a proud mom of three.

  • Callie Meyer

    Meyer serves on the Rapid City Council as its youngest ever elected woman. She’s passionate about inclusion, community well-being, and sustainable growth.

  • Amy Sazue

    Sazue (Sicangu/Oglala Lakota) founded the Remembering the Children Memorial and has 20 years of experience advocating for youth and community healing.

  • Fmr. Rep. Jacqueline Sly

    Sly, a retired educator with 37 years of experience, is a former state legislator and education board member who now volunteers on several nonprofit boards.

  • Eltina Three Stars

    Three Stars is a Lakota leader and Programs Director at Journey On, uplifting Indigenous voices and advocating for healing, equity, and youth in Rapid City.

  • Rep. Nicole Uhre-Balk

    A lifelong Black Hills resident and South Dakota House member, Rep. Uhre-Balk is an educator with a science background who leads education and sustainability efforts.
