Cante Heart

Cante Heart is a dedicated leader, advocate, and cultural caretaker committed to the well-being and empowerment of Indigenous communities. As the Executive Director of He Sapa Otipi, she is at the forefront of bringing an Indigenous-hosted community center to Mniluzahan Otunwahe (Rapid City, SD), creating a space where traditional kinships are revitalized, and a sense of belonging is fostered for all.

Rooted in her Lakota values, Cante has spent her life advocating for Indigenous self-determination, cultural preservation, and community healing. Her work is grounded in the belief that reconnecting to ceremony, language, and traditional ways of life is essential for collective strength and resilience. She is a strong voice for Native families, working to ensure that future generations have access to the resources, teachings, and opportunities needed to thrive.

Above all, Cante is a proud mother of three beautiful daughters, who inspire her every day to build a future where Indigenous children grow up knowing their worth, their culture, and their power. Through her leadership, He Sapa Otipi stands as a testament to the strength, wisdom, and unity of the people it serves.
